We cruised the Milford Sound yesterday in the afternoon. Here are a few pics (sent one at a time due to ship board internet capability limits… we are currently in the middle of the Tasman Sea, about 1/2 way between NZ and Tasmania!)
At the entrance to the sound. The mountain on the right is the edge of the Pacific tectonic plate, left is the Australian plate.
The fjord is pretty narrow. The mountains on either side are 3000-5000’ high!
At the end of the fjord there is a very small town with tour boats, a hotel and a small, very active, airport! I saw a couple planes take off and land.

And overall, one of the most geologically awe inspiring sights I have had the pleasure of seeing!
